Janet has been described as ‘weaving magic with her pencils’.
Coloured pencils and graphite, have been her passion ever since childhood.

Janet manages to capture the personality of her subjects, often showing the ‘conversation’ between them and reflecting Janet’s own personality and sense of humour. By capturing her subjects’ quirky behaviour, her drawings often make you smile and her style of combining colour and graphite is distinctive and memorable.

Drawing and Wildlife art classes with Janet Matthews.

Beginners and advanced students welcome.

All subjects are taught, although Janet specialises in wildlife and botanical subjects. Janet is a well known and sought after teacher who has a knack for making learning fun. Janet teaches colour pencil, graphite, pastel, pen and wash and limited botanical style watercolour mediums. Classes are designed for individual tuition at your own level.

Workshops also available, usually on a weekend. In each workshop Janet demonstrates specific techniques, then you will do a study as well as a final image. At the end of the workshop you will have a working book of notes and sketches as well as a final artwork. Reference material supplied and each workshop features a specific subject and gives an intensive and detailed look at the subject, ie platypus etc. Contact Janet for a workshop brochure.

Stephen's classes are highly regarded. A motivator and teacher, he raises the expectations and confidence along with the skills of his students. Stephen regularly assists with VCE skills and folio preparation. He takes weekly classes in Upwey and is a tutor at Murrumbidgee & Mitchell School of Arts - Charles Sturt University: Bathurst.
